Midori G. AsakawaBVSc, Diplomate ACVP (Anatomic and Clinical Pathology)

Dr. Midori Goto Asakawa is board certified in both anatomic and clinical pathology by American College of Veterinary Pathologists. She is a 2006 graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Azabu University in Japan. After completion of a one-year small animal rotating internship at the University of Tokyo, Dr. Asakawa did anatomic pathology residency program at North Carolina State University and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2010. After two years' experience in toxicologic pathology, she further completed veterinary clinical pathology residency program at Cornell University and become a double-boarded anatomic and clinical pathologist in 2015. She has received Outstanding Student Award in 2002, 2003, 2006, Monica Menard Memorial Award for her residency performance in 2008, Best Overall Presentation Award at clinical investigator's day in 2015, and ASCVP Share the Future Grant in 2014. She has been the author of peer-reviewed publications in various species, including small and large animals, laboratory animals and exotic animals. Dr. Asakawa is especially interested in cytologic-histologic correlation, bone marrow analysis, small animal and exotic oncology studies. She currently serves as a section chief of anatomic and clinical pathology at Synergy Animal General Hospital in Japan and contributes to veterinary international pathology education through lectures at various meetings.
